Royal Australian Air Force Engineer
Tammy enlisted in the Air Force in 1990 and became an Aircraft Maintenance Engineer. She maintained a wide variety of aircraft including Winjeels, Hercules, Boeing and Caribous.
One of very few females in a male dominated environment was challenging. and Tammy found she constantly had to prove herself. Among many challenges, she completed training runs in Iroquoi Helicopters whilst under attack from Hawk Aircraft, and carried out a 4 week Survival Course with Navy Clearance Divers.
She learnt survival priority, how to stay alive in different terrains, learning how to secure food shelter and water. However, he biggest challenge was found deep in the jungles of Papua new Guinea . . .

Many organisations conduct CPR courses to make a profit by satisfying legal requirements. However, Tammy’s philosophy in setting up her business was to use the passion from her personal experience with Carson’s near-drowning and the life skills learnt in the RAAF to educate and empower her clients.

Summer Safety Campaign 2009 . . . Present
Since 2009 Tammy continues to play a key role in the Queensland Government’s ‘Summer Safety’, drowning prevention campaign.
In September, 2008 Tammy conquered one of the world’s most arduous physical challenges. She completed the Kokoda Trail with 144 elite SAS soldiers. She was the only female invited on the trek - a thank you for her dedication to always keeping her aircraft in peak mechanical condition.
During the 8 day journey, Tammy found a level of strength and determination she never knew she had. She now knows if you have a dream and clearly defined goals, faith and determination, you can achieve almost anything in your life. She lives by her motto, “Never say Never.”
During her RAAF career she was presented with the Active and Long Service Medals and Personal Qualities and Commanding Officer’s Awards.

However, a near-fatal tragedy was soon to change the course of Tammy’s life . . .

A New Career
In October, 2007, Tammy’s 16 month old son almost drowned. Due to the RAAF’s mandatory CPR training she was able to save Carson’s life. Almost losing her son had a profound effect on Tammy. She knew life would never be the same again.
She soon discovered most of her friends had no CPR or first aid training. So, after 17 years of service in a career she loved, Tammy left the RAAF to follow her new-found passion - to help others learn the skills to save a life.
In 2010, after just over two
years in business, Tammy was
nominated for:
The Pride of Australia Medal,
Telstra’s Business Women of
 the Year Award, and,
Connect 2 Mums Emerging
 Entrepreneur of the Year
  Award.
She did not win any of the awards but humbled to have been nominated.

Other Projects
- Survival Oz
Tammy has recently created a survival pack, designed to be used in the event of a natural disaster. The Survival Oz survival pack, is designed to have enough supplies to survive for three days in a natural disaster.
- NFPTV
Not long after her incident with Carson, Tammy got involved with the World Fire Safety Foundation (WFSF). Since 2000 the Foundation has been warning of the life-threatening defects with the ionization type of smoke alarms in most homes around the world. Due to the Foundation's campaigning, legislation mandating photoelectric smoke alarms is now in force in several US states and in the Northern Territory of Australia.
The Foundation had appeared on TV several times but it’s important life-saving messages was soon forgotten. How could Not-For-Profits appear on TV on a regular basis when they were always struggling for funds?
